FAQs
When and where is the 2025 SHPE National Convention?
The 2025 SHPE National Convention takes place in October 29th – November 1st in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Do I need to be a SHPE member?
Preference is given to active and involved SHPE URI members. To apply, you must be a SHPE National Member.
What does SHPE URI cover?
SHPE URI will cover your transportation and hotel. Registration, meals, and personal activities are not covered by SHPE URI.
Missing classes?
We will provide an attendance letter to your professors. Talk to your instructors early about make-ups or other arrangements.
Dress code?
Business professional for the career expo and interviews. We recommend that you bring comfortable shoes!
What should I do to prepare?
There will be a mandatory preparation meeting for all selected applicants (date TBA). Research the career expo companies, pick 10-15 target companies, and upload your resume to SHPE Connect, and bring 10-15 printed copies. Update your LinkedIn and work on your elevator pitch.

What if I'm not selected?
You’re still in the game. You can attend the College of Engineering Career Fair on October 1st, upload your resume to SHPE Connect (employers often schedule remote interviews), keep joining our prep sessions, and get involved this semester to strengthen next year’s application.
